Flying Eagles crash out of World Cup
The Flying Eagles’ torrid World Cup campaign came to an end as a Amadou Sagna-inspired Senegal triumphed in Lodz.
Senegal booked a U20 World Cup quarter-final ticket as Nigeria’s hopes of winning a first title were ended by a 2-1 defeat in Lodz.
First half goals from Amadou Sagna and Ibrahima Niane powered the Young Lions of Teranga past the Flying Eagles with Aniekeme Okon’s effort standing as mere consolation.
Sagna struck in the 36th minute of Monday’s last-16 tie to put Senegal in control, and doubled the lead as Niane tucked home Alpha Diounkou cross.
